One of Heat director Michael Mann’s best films is the thrilling thriller Collateral, starring Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise. In addition to Cruise in an outstanding role as a charismatic villain, great night shots and a lot of excitement, the film also features a mini appearance by action star Jason Statham. He plays for a short scene right at the beginning his most important role once again. On Sunday evening you can watch Collateral on Arte.
In the thriller masterpiece Collateral, Jason Statham briefly reprises his most important role
The Michael Mann hit shows Cruise as contract killer Vincent, who forces Foxx in the role of taxi driver Max to drive him over the course of a night to various targets who need to be eliminated.
Collateral begins at Los Angeles airport, where Cruise arrives as a killer. Here he apparently accidentally bumps into a man played by Jason Statham and not coincidentally what Frank from the Transporter series looks like. The operation turns out to be a briefcase exchange through which Vincent obtains the identities of his targets.
The brief Statham appearance is over after around 30 seconds and the star then disappears from the rest of the film. According to Screen Rant, Collateral screenwriter Stuart Beattie spoke as a podcast guest about how Statham clearly played his star role in the brief appearance:
Absolutely Frank Martin from Transporter. I asked Jason about it… Yes, absolutely. Yes, that is canon. Same world… the studio will never admit it, but in my head he absolutely is.
