In Eden Lake, Jenny (Kelly Reilly) and Steve (Michael Fassbender) actually only want to spend a romantic weekend in the country, but are disturbed there by a youth gang. their assaults soon escalate from mild harassment to bloodthirsty atrocities.

Eden Lake was a critical success when it hit theaters in 2008, with its portrayal of poorer classes nevertheless sparked controversy (via Hollywood Reporter). The message and depiction of violence were also too much for the German film examiners, which is why the film was on the index from 2009 to 2022.

In the meantime, however, this assessment has changed, and Eden Lake will soon be available in an 18+ version uncut. On August 4, 2023, Eden Lake will be released as a 4K Blu-ray in Mediabook. You can pre-order the discs now:
