The book, the author, the director and the film – they are all nothing less than legendary. The writer can’t actually gain anything from this adaptation of his novel: Stephen King doesn’t particularly like Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. You can see for yourself on TV today.
That’s what The Shining is about
In order to be able to write his next book in peace, the writer Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) accepts a rather unusual job offer. It’s said to be in the mountains of Colorado look after an abandoned hotel as a caretaker. This is closed for holiday use and is theoretically perfect as a retreat.
Jack takes his wife Wendy (Shelley Duvall) and son Danny (Danny Lloyd) with him. But soon things will happen mysterious things in the gigantic house and son Danny learns from chef Hallorann (Scatman Crothers) that he has the so-called Shining. He can see the terrible things that have happened at the Overlook Hotel over time. Bit by bit The apparitions and events of the House of Jack drive them crazy. Over time, he even becomes a blatant threat to his family.

The Shining wasn’t particularly well received by Stephen King
We’re dealing with one here real genre classic to do. However, it was not well received by many critics at the time of its release. This includes Stephen King, whose original screenplay was scrapped and rewritten by Stanley Kubrick.
The author criticizes this: The many changes are met with little approval by Stephen King. For him, for example, the house itself was evil. He also complained in various interviews (here, for example, to Deadline) that the… Character of Jack Torrance does not undergo any real change and was crazy from the start.
This led to Stephen King unceremoniously killing himself a few years later once again a Shining film adaptation as a series with his own script has set up. However, it could not achieve the enormous cult status that Stanley Kubrick’s film was granted – despite initially lukewarm reviews.
