Nine-year-old Benni (Zengel) is unable to respond to the needs of those around her with respect. Disappointments invariably culminate in destructive tantrums, in which the girl can hurt herself and others.
Not only her biological mother, but also the German social system is overwhelmed by her and passes her from one surrogate family to the next. Only the anti-aggression trainer Micha (Albrecht Schuch) manages to establish a friendly connection with Benni, but which threatens to derail at any moment due to problems.
