25 km/h draws heavily on its two strong protagonists

The fact that 25 km/h works so well is mainly due to the dynamic between Lars Eidinger and Bjarne Mädel. The two actors move effortlessly between the two comedic and the dramatic elements of the plot. There’s never a dull moment watching these two explore their characters.

However, 25 km/h is not one of those films that only make fun of the contrasts between the characters. In the beginning, that resonates with you. However, it quickly becomes clear that both Christian and Georg carry their own demons around with them. The film is willing to explore this and thus possesses some touching facets.

What should not be missing from a road movie are encounters with different people. Here 25 km/h scores with great Supporting Actors. Only Wotan Wilke Möhring oversteps the mark and, with his excessively exaggerated performance, creates an imbalance in this otherwise very balanced comedy, which also has a welcome summer feeling attends.
