He is one of Hollywood’s biggest movie stars. So far, he hasn’t had much to do with franchises. Despite a brief stint in the DC Universe, George Clooney has built a career that’s complete without big brand names functions. However, one film series should not be forgotten: Ocean’s Eleven.
In 2001, the first Ocean’s film started in cinemas and repeated the recipe for success of Frankie and his cronies: multiple stars come together in a heist comedy. Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts replaced the Rat Pack around Frank Sinatra. They were led by none other than Clooney.

Ocean’s Eleven is an extremely entertaining Hollywood film that’s hard to beat when it comes to cool. A special highlight is Steven Soderbergh’s sophisticated staging, which at the same time playful and effortless works. The film catapults us straight into the world of Las Vegas, where Clooney and Co. are planning a big heist.

The success of Ocean’s Eleven was followed by its sequels Ocean’s Twelve (2004) and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007), before 2018’s one easy restart of the series followed. Ocean’s 8 tells the story of Danny Ocean’s sister, Debbie (Sandra Bullock), who also gathers a group of criminals to perform a heist.
Although it initially looked like Ocean’s 8 was planned as the start of another trilogy, Ocean’s 9 and Ocean’s 10 have not been implemented to date. Instead, the series invents itself new for the second time: The next Ocean’s film follows Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling to 1960s Europe and is thus a prequel.
