Anatomy of a Case shines on Prime with the search for truth as a complex puzzle
Justine Triet’s film is not only a much better cast version of the TV afternoon series of the time à la Judge Barbara Salesch or Judge Alexander Hold. Anatomy of a Case revolves in a complex and multi-layered way around the mysterious death and the background that led to this moment.
The focus is primarily on the marriage between Sandra and Samuel, which is in crisis right up until the end. The position of the eleven-year-old son, who went blind early after an accident, is also particularly ambivalent and therefore has an even more difficult perspective on the death.
Anyone who expects simple answers from Triet’s work will probably be disappointed. Even if a verdict is reached, after the credits roll everyone will draw their own conclusions from the ambiguous scenes and unclear evidence. Anatomy of a Case scores as a gripping courtroom thriller as well as a character portrait of several people who ultimately have to find or accept their own truth.
