The 1983 gangster film classic Scarface by Brian De Palma with Al Pacino as ice-cold drug lord Tony Montana has recently been released in a new, high-quality version for home cinema. This was already sold out in the meantime, but is currently available again.

That’s what Scarface is about
Tony Montana (Al Pacino) and Manny Ray (Steven Bauer) come to Miami as Cuban exiles and soon have enough of their temporary jobs as dishwashers. They long for fame, money and beautiful girls, but they don’t know how to make this dream come true through legal means. Over time, Tony rises as “Scarface” the most powerful drug lord in the city up, which, however, also brings with it numerous enemies.
Scarface was indexed in this country in its uncut version until 2011 and when it was originally published it was mainly due to its bloody scenes of violence and the glorification of gangsterism It was received rather mixed to poorly, but ultimately became a celebrated classic.
Scarface is that good
In the Moviepilot community, the iconic gangster film received an extremely good rating with an average of 8 out of 10 points, making it into the top 10 of the best films about crime. There was also criticism in the FILMSTARTS With 4.5 out of 5 stars an excellent rating for Scarface.
Accordingly, the film benefits, among other things, from excellent photography and the ensemble of actors with Al Pacino in top form as well as the musical accompaniment. Coupled with the authentic script by Oliver Stone and the direction by De Palma make this Scarface is an almost perfect filmbut missing “a bit of streamlining the plot into a masterpiece“.
For fans of the genre and of great cinema in general, Scarface is of course nevertheless considered a real must-see. The new and limited Steelbook edition not only brings the classic to the home screen in a contemporary look, but also in an elegant presentation to the home cinema collection.
