One of the best Counter-Strike players of all time says you shouldn’t play CS2 right now

The e-athlete s1mple is one of the most successful players in the history of Counter-Strike. However, the professional now advises that you should wait a few months before playing CS2.

Who is the person you are talking about? Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyljev is considered one of the best Counter-Strike players of all time, or at least of the current era. For his achievements in various competitions, s1mple was named the best player of 2018, 2021 and 2022 and was also a title contender in 2019 and 2020.

The 26-year-old Ukrainian has worked for esports organizations such as HellRaisers, FlipSid3 Tactics and Team Liquid in his continuing flourishing career. However, s1mple reached his peak at NaVi, for whom he has been playing since 2016.

Between 2020 and 2022, NaVi was THE team in CS:GO and was able to win some highly prized tournaments – most notably the Intel Grand Slam in September 2021 and the PGL Major in Stockholm a few months later.

What does he say? s1mple is not satisfied with the current technical condition of Counter-Strike 2 and is harshly criticizing the successor to the extremely popular CS:GO on Twitter/x.com:

I can clearly say that if you want to become a CS2 pro, you still have 3 months left, so don’t play this shitty game, wait for updates.

The 26-year-old expresses in clear words that you shouldn’t play CS2 at the moment and it’s better to wait a few months for an update. So if you plan to become a professional player soon, you still have 3 months to do so.

What is the status of CS2? Counter-Strike 2 celebrated its release on September 27th and has had divided opinions ever since. There are definitely new aspects that are really well received by the players, but the criticism from renowned players in particular is deep.

Shooter expert and ex-CS professional shroud was also critical and thinks CS2 is the end of Counter-Strike.

Nevertheless, Counter-Strike 2 also has really good player numbers on Steam and doesn’t have to hide from the values of its predecessor CS:GO. For example, shortly after its release on Steam, CS2 was so successful that the shooter had more players than the next 9 titles combined:
