One of the best co-op games on Steam is testing a PvP mode years after its release

Five years after the release of Warhammer Vermintide 2 on Steam, the developers are looking for new play testers. This is about a new PvP mode that will come into play.

What do we know about PvP mode? Warhammer Vermintide 2 will soon allow the public to test out the new Versus mode. The game mode will be a PVPvE mode in which two teams of four players each compete against each other. One team should play the Skaven, another the heroes of Ubersreik. After a round you should switch sides.

The heroes try to play an almost regular game in adventure mode, while the Skaven try to prevent the heroes from achieving their goals and get support from the AI opponents.

According to the Warhammer Vermintide 2 website, the mode was created during the so-called “Hack Weeks”. These are weeks in which developers can devote themselves to their creative ideas instead of working on the main project. The mode was so popular that it was further expanded, tested and now released to the public.

This is how you can test the new mode of Warhammer Vermintide 2

How do I take part? To take part in the new Warhammer Vermintide 2 test, you simply need to have purchased the game. For previous tests, you still had to apply, but the next test will be open to everyone.

However, there is one catch: Versus mode will not come to consoles, only PC players will be able to experience the mode. The developers cite “technical limitations on the storage and network side of the consoles” as the reason for this.

There are several reasons for this, but mainly it is due to technical limitations on the storage and network side. Vermintide 2 was not developed with Versus in mind, and since we are adapting the game and engine itself for PC, there are currently no good alternatives for consoles.

Developer on Steam.

When should the next test start? According to the developers, the next test should start very soon. However, you haven’t revealed an exact date yet. It is already known that the new mode will be fully released this year. On Steam there are currently around 2,500-4,000 players playing the game at peak time. There used to be over 100,000.

The developers still see a future and want to continue releasing new updates in the future, which will then appear on the consoles again. If you’re currently looking for a co-op game, you can also take a look at Helldivers 2, where 120,000 people try to conquer a planet at the same time.
