Some action series are so popular that even a quarter of a century after the last part, sequels are still being released. Here’s the case with the Lethal Weapon series starring Mel Gibson, whose first film Lethal Weapon is on TV today.

To clear up the death of a young woman, one of the most unusual duos in the Los Angeles Police Department. Aging family man Murtaugh (Danny Glover) and suicidal Vietnam veteran Riggs (Gibson) discover a drug conspiracy is behind the crime. And soon become a target themselves.
The action hit with the unique duo developed into a box office hit in 1987 and resulted in three sequels, the last of which appeared in 1998 with Lethal Weapon 4 – Two professionals clear up. Mel Gibson has been in the works on Lethal Weapon 5 since 2020. The star recently told JoBlo, that Lethal Weapon 5 is still to come and the delay is believed to be due to personnel changes at producer Warner.

Lethal Weapon is running this Monday, April 17, 2023, at 8:15 p.m. on Kabel 1. If you don’t have time, you can catch up on the film at 0.45 a.m. In addition to Gibson and Glover, Gary Busey (Dangerous Surf) can be seen in front of the camera, among others.
