Christopher Nolan opens his acclaimed superhero blockbuster The Dark Knight with a bang. The spectacular bank robbery scene of the Joker and his gang, of which only the psychopathic Batman villain survives at the end, is a real adrenaline rush to get you started.

For this opener, Nolan took inspiration from an older work that even eclipses The Dark Knight: Michael Mann’s action-thriller masterpiece Heat. On August 18, the classic with Robert De Niro and Al Pacino will be released for the first time in 4K quality in Germany.

The 4K edition of Heat was announced last year and then had to be delayed due to technical issues. Now it should be in August.

The edition offers the restored 170-minute “Director’s Definitive Edition” in 4K scan with HDR10. The audio tracks remain DTS 5.1 (German) and DTS-HD MA 5.1 (English). On an enclosed Blu-ray there are the well-known extras from 2017, such as making ofs, deleted scenes and an audio commentary by Michael Mann.
