Is it one of the most boring or one of the most brilliant movie titles ever? Plane is the title of Jean-François Richet’s action thriller that sees Gerard Butler crash-land on a Pacific island infested with terrorists. For the Prime Day* is there that limited 4K Steelbook 21 percent cheaper.
Of course, the film is also available on DVD*, Blu-ray* and stream on Amazon Prime Video*. However, only the 4K Steelbook is on sale on Prime Day.
Plane: Authentic, no-frills old-school action filmAfter an international airliner gets caught in a storm, the inevitable happens: the plane is struck by lightning and has to make an emergency landing on a South Pacific island. According to the motto “if it’s going well, then it’s going well”, the pilot Brodie (Gerard Butler) and the remaining passengers are captured by terrorists. Brodie must team up with a felon (Mike Colter) to save the day once again…
The flagship here is above all Butler’s convincing performance, which raises the film well above mediocrity. You can get up Action cinema of the old School forward without many computer generated effects and tricks. This makes the action interludes and stunts all the more authentic and lets us quickly forget the relatively unoriginal screenplay.
Financially, Plane was a remarkable success. With a budget of just $25 million, the production grossed around $52 million. By the way, a sequel is already being planned and its title is just as daring as that of the first part.
