Many monsters in Pokémon GO accompany their trainers for years. MeinMMO author Paul also has Pokémon that have accompanied him for many years.
Pokémon GO is now a few years old. The game was released in the USA, Australia and New Zealand on July 6, 2016 and a week later, on July 13, 2016, in Germany.
The game has been installed on my phone since day 1 and, apart from a few short or longer breaks, I am an enthusiastic trainer.
Over the years, a few Pokémon have found their way to me and many have also migrated from there to the professor. However, there is one Pokémon that has been with me almost since day 1 – and it is not my starter.
At my side for over 8 years
Which Pokémon is it? The Pokémon that has been with me since July 16, 2016 is a Beedrill. Since it has been by my side for such a long time, it was finally allowed to undergo mega evolution.
Why is it called Bibor (M)? The name comes from the fact that I like to give my Pokémon names that show me at first glance what the Pokémon is used for. There are certain naming conventions for the various battle leagues or for use in raids.
Pokémon in which I can trigger Mega Evolution receive the same name as Beaver: (M).
And what about the starter? Unfortunately, my starter Pokémon, a Charmander, is no longer part of my Pokémon collection. In a moment of carelessness, my starter Pokémon unfortunately ended up with the professor. I still hope that he will take good care of my Charmander.
What good is such an old Pokémon to me? First and foremost, it is of course the nostalgia factor that makes this Pokémon special for me personally. After all, it has been by my side for more than 8 years.
This Beaver still knows the old footprint system in Pokémon GO, the old gyms, and many other things that no longer exist in Pokémon GO today.
By the way, old Pokémon can still give you an advantage. But you have to say goodbye to them. Pokémon that you caught in 2018 or earlier can trigger a guaranteed lucky trade if you trade them with your friends and have not yet exceeded the maximum number of guaranteed lucky trades.
What about you? What is your oldest Pokémon? Feel free to write to us in the comments, tell us about your old Pokémon and exchange ideas with other trainers here. If you want to know which events are still coming up in Pokémon GO in July 2024 and are waiting for you, we have the right overview for you.
