Last year, Marco Ebben, 32, staged his own death to escape the police.
Now he is dead for real.
One of Europe’s most sought -after men is shot dead in Mexico.
The Dutch drug baron Marco Ebben, 32, was Boss for the criminal group “Rainforest” with his father.
The gang engaged in smuggling methamphetamine and hashish.
It reports the Mexican newspaper El Universal.
Internal settlement
Marco Ebben was one of Europe’s most wanted criminals, according to Europol.
But now he is dead.
He was shot dead in Atizapan de Zaragoza, a community 25 kilometers from the capital Mexico City.
Mexican media is currently speculating in the motive for the murder. The newspaper El Financiero writes that the murder is probably part of an internal settlement in the gang and refers to sources.
Ebben must have been hit by 15 shots while he ran towards his armored car. When he was shot, he wore a false identity document from American Dea.

Hid cocaine in cans with pineapple
Marco Ebben has previously been involved in drug smuggling from Brazil to the Netherlands. In 2014 and 2015, he, along with several other men, smuggled 400 kilos of cocaine to the Netherlands.
The drug was hidden in containers with pineapple, according to Europol.
In October 2020, he was sentenced to seven years in prison, but fled the police before the sentence was to be enforced. In the space from justice, he is suspected to have been in Dubai, Turkey, Russia and Italy.
In October last year he staged his own death in Culiacán in Mexico. In the midst of a fiery war between two fractions in the Sinaloa cartel.
Through his fake death, he managed to stay away from the police further.
