One of Call of Duty’s top players regrets not switching to another shooter years ago

Former professional player “Scump” is a legend in Call of Duty. But the 2017 world champion regrets not switching to another shooter.

Who is it about? Seth “Scump” Abner (29) is a former “Call of Duty” professional. To this day he is considered one of the best CoD players in the world and is extremely well known among fans of the shooter.

  • On Twitch, Scump has 1.7 million followers and regularly streams to over 14,000 viewers.
  • With Call of Duty, Scump has won over $1.19 million in prize money.
  • In 2016 Scump received the award for “E-Sports Console Player of the Year”
  • In 2017, Scump became world champion in CoD: Infinite Warfare with OpTic Gaming.
  • In January 2023, Scump ended his career as a professional CoD player. He most recently played for Team Envy. Today he works as a content creator for OpTic Gaming and plays various shooters in live streams on Twitch – but above all Call of Duty.

On October 30th, Scump was a guest on the podcast “Around The Bar” by Davis “Hitch” Edwards, who also works as a content creator for OpTic Gaming (via YouTube).

What does Scump regret? Scump says in the podcast that he regrets some decisions he made in the past from today’s perspective. For example, he is annoyed that he didn’t end his career as a CoD professional years ago and instead played and streamed Fortnite.

Scump’s interviewer Hitch then asked if he would tell his former self to retire and play Fortnite after winning the world title. Scump confirmed the thought: “Yes. I love competitive gaming more than anything, obviously it’s been my whole life, but that’s one thing I regret.”

Scump continued to play Call of Duty professionally during Fortnite’s great rise – but was unable to win another world championship title.

Scump would have liked to benefit from the Fortnite hype

Why does he regret it? For Scump, this remorse is mainly related to the hype that Fortnite had. Many streamers who made Fortnite their main game in 2017 and 2018 did really well financially.

The number of viewers from various streamers rose sharply with Fortnite and remained really high for a long time. Content creators like Ninja and TimTheTatman were happy about extreme growth. Ninja himself also recently talked about one thing he regrets from his Fortnite days: Ninja explains what he regrets about being number 1 on Twitch through Fortnite – and it’s bold
