One of 24 successful remakes of the same story

It should come as no surprise that Elyas M’Barek is starring in one of the most successful German films of the last ten years. But the rest of the cast is also top-class and makes you happy successful exchange of blows and the best entertainment. Today the celebrated hit The Perfect Secret by Bora Dagtekin is on TV.

The perfect secret with Elyas M’Barek on TV today: Funny evening turns into a catastrophe

The four friends (M’Barek, Florian David Fitz, Frederick Lau and Wotan Wilke Möhring) have known each other since school and shouldn’t have any secrets from each other. But at dinner with her partners (Jella Haase, Karoline Herfurth, Jessica Schwarz) there are lots of surprises.

The group decides to put all cell phones on the table, every message that arrives has to be read out loud, and every phone call has to be made over loudspeaker. What starts out as the funniest party game quickly becomes bitterly serious and soon not only friendships but also marriages are at stake.

The perfect secret offers entertaining entertainment with pointed and fast-paced dialogues that is really fun. Dagtekin manages to hit the right note. The consistently top cast plays with ease (and in the right places with the necessary seriousness) absolutely believably.

One of the most successful German films is the twelfth remake of an extremely popular story

The Germans are said to have none, but the story of The Perfect Secret is so universal that the comedy seems to work around the world. Overall, the Italian original was Perfect Strangers by Paolo Genovese remade in 24 countries around the world. The German version was published in 2019, three years after the original – as the twelfth version.

However, Dagtekin made changes to the characters and their revelations and conflicts to better suit the German-speaking audience. The effort was worth it. The perfect mystery beckoned over five million viewers in German cinemas and, according to Insidekino, became the fifth most successful German film in recent years, behind the three-part Fack Ju Göhte series and Honig im Kopf.
