New Russian attacks have led to major power outages in central and western Ukraine. Over a million households are without power, the Ukrainian Presidential Office announces.

Following a known pattern from recent weeks, Russian projectiles rained down on several parts of Ukraine on Saturday. Many are shot down, but others primarily hit energy infrastructure, and are therefore described as terrorist bombings against civil society.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, Russia fired 36 rockets.

Please store water

Over a million households are without power, says Kyrylo Tymoshenko, adviser in the Ukrainian presidential office. Shortly after local media reported loud explosions in the city of Khmelnytskyi, located in the region of the same name, the city was completely without power. Residents are asked to store water, “just in case it is also gone within an hour”, writes the city council on social media.

State operator Ukrenergo continues to urge people to save electricity.

Call to leave Kherson

The Russian-installed occupation regime in Kherson is calling on residents of the city of the same name to “immediately” leave the city, due to Kiev’s counter-offensive.

Russia has previously initiated what are called evacuations from the big city of Kherson. Over the coming week, 10,000 civilians a day are to be “relocated” from one side of the Dnieper River – which divides Kherson – to the other side where Russia has clearer control. The leadership of the occupation government will also withdraw.
