What will and will not be allowed in the future?
From January 1, 2025, it is prohibited to light fires on wood outside. Not even in your own garden. This means that burning a fire pit or outdoor stove for ambiance is no longer allowed. Making food on a wood fire, for example in a pizza oven, will also no longer be allowed outside from next year.
Torches, candles or fireplaces fueled by liquids such as bio-ethanol are allowed. And barbecues on charcoal, briquettes, gas or electricity will also be possible in Utrecht next year.
