Prosecutor Christina Hildebrand charges the man with attempted murder or serious assault.
The suspect has neither been able to admit nor deny the act, as he does not remember the incident. He has been in custody since the days after the stabbing.
His defense lawyer, Uno Karlsson, has argued that the stabbing hit the policeman’s iliac crest and thus should constitute serious assault and not attempted murder.
It was on the night of September 18 that an off-duty police officer heard a commotion and intervened. The two women were also initially arrested but released early.
