A Sarnia resident faces charges after a man was stabbed in the leg early Tuesday, police say.

The victim was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition after receiving emergency medical treatment from officers and Lambton EMS at the scene, Sarnia police said.

The stabbing happened near Euphemia and Davis streets after an altercation between two men who know each other, police said.

A suspect was arrested, police said. Investigation revealed the suspect was under a probation order not to possess weapons.

There are no outstanding suspects or ongoing threats to public safety, but officers may be present as the investigation continues, police said.

A Sarnia man 34, is charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and breach of probation.
