One person was killed and two others seriously injured in a rural crash late Saturday north of London, provincial police say.
A pickup truck and a passenger vehicle collided at the intersection of Ilderton Road and Wonderland Road North in Middlesex Center shortly before 9:30 pm Saturday, Middlesex OPP said.
“I’m very sorry to say that one of the occupants in the passenger vehicle involved was pronounced deceased at the scene,” OPP spokesperson Const. Brett Phair said in a video posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
He said both drivers in the collision were sent to a trauma center with serious injuries.
The name of the motorist who died was not released.
Police said a gas line was damaged by the collision and people were asked to avoid the area late Saturday.
Provincial police were still investigating the collision.
A section of Ilderton Road, between Willow Ridge Road and Richmond Street, and the stretch of Wonderland Road North between 10 Mile Road and 12 Mile Road, were closed overnight for several hours in the fallout of the collision.
Anyone with dashboard camera footage that could help authorities with the investigation is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
Anyone with information about the collision, who wants to remain anonymous, can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
