The attack took place in the middle of the street and in several locations in Holon, a city in the suburbs of Tel Aviv. The suspect in this “alleged terrorist attack,” a West Bank resident, was quickly “neutralized” by a police officer who arrived on the scene.
After the knife attack, a 70-year-old woman who was seriously injured succumbed to her injuries. Among the injured, a 70-year-old man is in critical condition, a 68-year-old man is seriously injured, and the third, aged 26, is in moderate condition. “This was a complex and difficult terrorist attack, with the victims in three different locations, approximately 500 metres apart,” emergency services said on the scene.

The attack comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, following threats of retaliation by Iran, Palestinian Hamas and Lebanese Hezbollah to the assassination Wednesday in Tehran of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, attributed to Israel, and after an Israeli strike Tuesday that killed Hezbollah military leader Fouad Shokr near the Lebanese capital.
