At least ten people were injured in a shooting in central Kansas City in Missouri, USA in connection with a Super Bowl parade. One person has died from their injuries, reports ABC News.

The police operation is ongoing and the circumstances are still unclear. Several of those taken to hospital are believed to have been injured as thousands fled the shooting.

Two people have been detained. According to KCTV, both were armed.

The place, outside the city’s central station, was full of people as a victory parade had just been held for the Kansas City Chiefs, who on Monday won the final of the American NFL football. The players on the team were leaving a stage nearby when the shooting broke out.

KCTV reports that close to a million people watched the parade on the streets of Kansas City.

Local media are reporting how a relative calm instantly turned into panic when those nearby, many of whom were children, realized a shooting was going on.
