The DNA of sex offender Martin C. was found under the girl’s fingernails. The man who worked as a bus driver had just been released after a prison sentence for a number of violent rapes in Amsterdam. Before the police identified him as the perpetrator six months after the murder of Sybine, C. raped two more women. He was eventually sentenced two years later on appeal to 18 years in prison and a TBS with compulsory treatment.
