In the Utrecht court this morning it immediately became clear that it is a difficult case, because it took place five years ago. The 46-year-old civil servant says that in 2017 he was introduced to a Utrecht citizen at a barbecue who contested a debt he had with the municipality. The man asked the officer if he could help. The civil servant ruled that the debt was eligible for cancellation and his supervisor supported him in this.
