Previously convicted
The Public Prosecution Service charged YC with attempted manslaughter in 2018, but ultimately there was insufficient evidence for this. He was then convicted of serious assault. The court ruling from 2019 states that a traffic dispute was the cause of the collision at the time.
The suspect stopped his car on the driveway of the A28 near Zeist and the victim and his girlfriend also stopped there and got out. YC then drove his car into the victim. Shortly after the collision, the suspect called his employer and told him that he had had an accident, but kept quiet about the traffic dispute and hitting a person.
He was subsequently arrested. After the officers asked for his ID, they heard him say: “I hit someone. I wanted to kill him.” He also cursed the officers. But during later interrogations, the Amersfoorter claimed that it had been an accident and that he had not even noticed it. At the time he refused to cooperate in psychological research.
