Initially, there were 12 athletes on Olympic Solidarity scholarships. Five of them, from Niger, Congo, Guinea-Bissau and Tanzania, finally qualified for the Paris Olympic Games. For two years, this unique system in France, set up by the International Olympic Committee, was piloted by the Regional Youth and Sports Center, the CRJS, in the town of Petit-Couronne, near Rouen, in the Normandy region. Its objective is to offer a framework and infrastructure to foreign athletes. Swimmers, judokas, sprinters, their last preparation sessions for the Olympic Games are intense.
