Orthopedist Lasse Lempainen operated on the javelin thrower’s Achilles tendon on Tuesday.
Javelin thrower from Trinidad and Tobago Keshorn Walcott arrived in Turku for surgery on Sunday, August 27, says Pihlajalinna in its press release.
Walcott was injured on Friday, August 25, during training before the World Cup qualification in Budapest. The London 2012 Olympic gold medalist’s Achilles tendon failed on the training ground just before the qualifying competition.
Specialist in orthopedics and traumatology Lasse Lempainen operated on the athlete’s Achilles tendon on Tuesday.
– The surgery went well in all respects and Walcott was able to travel home to recover on Wednesday, says Lempainen in the press release.
The orthopedist says that he will participate in the athlete’s rehabilitation, which is expected to last nine months. Lempainen thinks it’s possible that Walcott can be seen in prestigious competitions as early as next year.
Lempainen works as an orthopedic consultant for, among others, FC Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, FC Juventus, AS Roma, Parma Calcio and FC Watford, according to Pihlajalinna’s press release.
