He is one of Swedish swimming’s biggest heroes.
Now the icon Lars Frölander reveals his big favorite team in hockey.
– That was what mattered, he admits in an interview.
Already in 1992 came Lars Frölander first big success in the pool when he was part of the Swedish team that won Olympic silver in the relay during the Summer Olympics in Barcelona. It would be the start of one of Swedish swimming’s most successful careers of all time.

He defied his chlorine sensitivity and became one of the world’s best swimmers in the coming years. Frölander collected nine WC golds, twelve EC golds and two more Olympic medals during his swimming career.

The biggest moment of his active career was, of course, the unforgettable Olympic gold medal in the 100m butterfly when he broke the world record in a tremendous display. Today, we can still see Frölander as an expert commentator during the television broadcasts for swimming in SVT.

His favorite team
At the end of his swimming career, the Olympic gold hero also became a vegan. But besides swimming, Lars Frölander also has a great interest in hockey and there is a particular favorite team in his heart.

But even though he was born in Boden, it is a club down south that has won over his love. Because Frölander moved at an early age from Norrbotten and then grew up in Ornäs, Borlänge.

Then there is really only one team to stick with and Frölander reveals that the favorite team in hockey is the long-standing Leksand.
– I grew up in Dalarna, so it was Leksand that mattered, the swimming legend admitted in an old interview with Aftonbladet.
