Hennig was 11th overall in the Tour de Ski last season
At the turn of the year, the cross-country Tour de Ski in Italy experienced a loss when a German skier Katharina Hennig announced on his social media account that he will be absent from this competition event.
Hennig justified his decision by saying that he is not in the condition that his body could withstand the stresses of a tour lasting more than a week.
– Although the decision was difficult, the good news is that I am giving my body the recovery time it needs. This way I have plenty of time to prepare well for the World Championships in Norway, Hennig said.
The World Championships in Nordic skiing will be held in Trondheim, Norway next February-March.
Hennig was 11th overall in the Tour de Ski last season. He won the Olympic gold in the pair sprint in Beijing 2022.
The Tour de Ski starts in Toblach, Italy, after Christmas next Saturday.
