During the Sports Gala, one of the evening’s big winners was – not entirely unexpectedly – Armand Duplantis. He won awards in the Performance of the Year and Male Athlete of the Year categories.
– You are too kind, I am not ready for so many speeches. But I am so grateful. I don’t have many more to thank actually, my fiancee. She has been so damn important throughout the journey, he said in his acceptance speech.
After the gala, SVT continued the broadcasts with its Eftersnack program, where the presenters interviewed both Armand Duplantis and also the swimmer Sarah Sjostrom who was awarded the Female Athlete of the Year award.

In the Eftersnacks broadcast, the host Olle Palmlöf took the floor with a question for Duplantis.
– I wonder one thing. Kjell Isaksson took the world record, i.e. 5.39. But if you had jumped with his poles, how high do you think you would have jumped?
– Higher than him, answered Armand.

– I understand that. I get that too. We say his rods would have come off if you had jumped. They had gone off. Boink, continued Palmlöf.
– I think one hundred percent that my rods are a little better than Kjell’s in the 1970s, answered Armand, while the presenter Olle Palmlöf continued to ask about the rods.

A clip from the interview has now gone viral, where several viewers react to Olle Palmlöf’s interview with Duplantis.
“If it’s an after-party, so be it,” wrote the humor account The dung beetle gala to the clip.
“Unbelievable,” wrote the presenter Josephine Craford. Also the journalist and presenter Alexandra Pascalidou reacted strongly to the clip. She wrote “Absolutely unbelievable”.
“Wtf happened here”, “Wow, so incredibly embarrassing??? That SVT doesn’t break out and rush out? Then you can wonder why he was there in the first place”, “What a complete train wreck”, “Aw aw aw aw aw” and “That SVT allows this. You are ashamed” were other reactions.
