Now that the dance band Lasse Stefanz, who turns 56, is going out on the road again, singer Olle Jönsson tells Nyhetsmorgon about how the health problems have affected his life. It started with a heart attack and then he got carpal tunnel syndrome, diabetes and familial tremors.
– There is a bucket list of what diseases to have, and I have ticked them off afterwards.
Had near death experience
The long series of illnesses and setbacks has changed his outlook on life.
– When it’s over, I’ve had a good life and those around me have had a good life.
But Olle Jönsson, he is not afraid of death anymore.
– I’ve been over and looked at the other side and I just thought it was green and nice.
Mother’s words way back
He had a heart attack in 2006 that was about to cost him his life. In the hospital, the heart rate dropped to 37. Then he had a near-death experience and saw his mother in front of him.
– Oddly enough, my mother came and said: “Now you can pull yourself up”. She had been dead for 10 years.
He survived and despite the health problems has continued with the music. Olle Jönsson believes that the difficulties have only been an advantage for him as a singer. He does not believe that the eyes are the windows into the soul, but the voice.
– If I hadn’t had all the setbacks, I wouldn’t have the voice I have today.
