During Friday, it was time for the fourth Friday final of Idol 2023, and the theme was “Superstars”. The idols interpreted songs from big stars such as Whitney Houston, Billie Eilish and Christina Aguilera.
The evening ended with a happy shock – when no one went out.
Sweden’s own superstar, Loreen, was on hand to perform her new single “Is It Love”. She also spent the evening behind the jury table where she acted as a mentor to the participants.
When everyone had sung, and the floodgates closed, presenter Pär Lernström announced: “We have counted all the votes, and we have a result”.
When the votes were distributed, it was clear that Isak Uddström, Tilda Vodusek and Olivia Aliotti ended up at the bottom with the fewest votes this evening. However, the last safe place went to Tilda Vodusek, which meant that Olivia Aliotti was in danger of leaving. However, the jury’s extra ace remained up its sleeve: the jury’s lifebuoy. After an explanation among the jury, the announcement came:
“We give you our lifebuoy!” Kishti Tomita exclaimed. “We felt that tonight she dared to show this vulnerability which was the key.”
Chuffed
“I am very happy that they wanted to give me the lifebuoy. I feel like I have a lot more to show.” says an emotional Olivia, who during the evening sang Billie Eilish’s super hit “What Was I Made For?” from the summer movie hit “Barbie”.
This means that Olivia remains in the competition and gets another chance to win over the people’s votes next week as well.
