The spearhead, who suffered with back spasms in August, had enough of the pain, put his season on hold and traveled to Crete.
Javelin thrower Oliver Helander25, will not be seen competing again this season.
A back spasm at the Kaleva Games in early August has prevented full training and competition. When Helander withdrew from the European Championships in Munich, he announced that he would still try to throw this season.
His name was initially found on the participant list of the Diamond League competition in Lausanne, but it was removed a few days before the competition.
In his first competition of the season, which he threw at full speed, Helander raced to a record of 89.83, which was followed by the 85.46 seen in the Stockholm Diamond League.
At the World Championships in Oregon, Helander advanced to the finals of the world championships for the first time in his career, where 82.24 was enough for eighth place.

After that, the season took an irreversible turn when Helander’s back spasm struck in the first throw in the final of the Kaleva Games.

– My back is fine, but not quite pain-free yet. I don’t want to risk my health and get a bigger injury. Better that I can start training for next season healthy, Helander, who traveled to Crete, communicated.
The main event in 2023 will take place in Budapest, Hungary, which will host the World Championships from 19 to 27. August.
In addition to this summer, Helander has been the season’s domestic statistical leader in 2018, 2019 and 2021. In 2020, he did not throw due to shoulder surgery.
