Oliver Helander, who beat the top league, did it again in Turku – a tasty prediction from coach Tero Pitkämäki about the future

Oliver Helander who beat the top league did it again

Helander threw Paavo Nurme in the javelin of the Games to second place with the season’s best domestic result of 87.32 and broke the result limit of the World Championships. Helander crossed 85 meters three times and 82 meters five times.

Spearman Oliver Helander was Wilma Murron along with Paavo Nurme’s Finnish name for the Games.

Helander was second in the javelin competition with a season’s best of 87.32 and also managed two other throws over 85 meters (86.47 and 85.53). Helander’s longest throws came in the last three rounds. The handsome series was completed by two fair 82-meter shots.

Jakub Vadlejch won the world statistics with the top score of 89.51. Helander’s result put him fifth in the world statistics.

Helander, 26, has often thrown one single top throw, but now a consistently hard series was born.

– The throws went forward. In previous races, they have gone diagonally to the left. It was a big improvement for this race, Helander analyzed his performance.

Helander’s coach Tero Pitkämäki was satisfied with the throwing series of his coach.

– It was a good race today. It is especially heartwarming that three of the throws were over 85 meters. The race was upbeat, Pitkämäki praised.

– The overstepped throw was also about 84 meters long. I don’t think the man has been able to fit such an even set into his race before. A good race, where the technique improved towards the end.

Helander’s result is the top domestic result of the season and breaks the World Cup limit of 85.20. According to Pitkämäki, the border was an important goal for the duo.

– That has been our goal in the first two races, but it has gone a bit overboard. There have been technical problems that have been dealt with, but now they have been overcome.

According to Pitkämäki, he is allowed to expect even better from his guardrail.

– After all, there is potential for even harder meter readings. The consistency shows it. The man is now healthy for a change and is able to throw six competition throws. It’s a pretty good situation.

In the Doha Diamond League in May, Helander was left without a result. At the beginning of June, he threw his best 80.50 in Holland.

Helander has had a good time in Turku at Paavo Nurme’s games, because in the sculls a year ago he threw his record 89.83.

– After all, this is by far the best race in Finland. That way it’s always great to throw here. There are a lot of spectators, so it’s nice to play sports. Last week I said I was going to win here. I didn’t quite get to that, Helander said.
