Verwijk will close the door of his stall later at 6 p.m. Regular customers and family have been coming by all week, bringing gifts and supporting him. “It’s really very sweet, when I close the door later it will be an emotional moment.” And that is difficult every year, he says. “You are here for three months, seven days a week, twelve hours a day, which is always tough.” But now it is extra tough for Verwijk. “But I am a fighter. I will do everything I can to return to Jaarbeursplein next year.”
