Just before 5pm on Wednesday, the emergency services were called to Parkgatan in Säffle. The Gamla Kvarnen warehouse, which was reportedly built as early as 1860, was completely over-fired and large amounts of smoke spread. The emergency services decided to let the building burn down. The fire spread to an adjacent building and ten units from different locations worked on the scene.

The extinguishing work was still ongoing on Thursday.
– We thank everyone who helped and extinguished the fire, they did a great job, says Mats Ahlstrand, operations leader at Säffle rescue service.
According to the police, no one was injured. A technical investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the fire, an arson report has been filed, and the area is cordoned off.
