German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has fallen on the jogging track and injured his face so badly that he has been forced to cancel some planned meetings this weekend, the country’s government announced on Saturday.
The government writes in an email that the 65-year-old German leader has had a “minor sports accident” and is therefore canceling his planned meetings in the state of Hesse on Sunday.
Centrally located in Germany, Hesse is holding state elections on October 8.
According to the German government, the accident will not affect the Chancellor’s commitments next week.
