NFL star and actor OJ Simpson is dead.
“On April 10, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, lost his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren,” the family writes in the post.
TMZ writes that he has been battling prostate cancer for several years and that his health has deteriorated recently.
OJ Simpson ended his sports career in 1979 and instead turned to acting. He appeared in films such as “The Naked Gun”, “The Skyscraper is Burning” and “Capricorn One”
In 1995, he received a lot of attention when he was charged with the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman – something he was later acquitted of. Two years later, however, he was ordered to pay $33.5 million in damages to the victims’ families.
In 2007, he was convicted of armed robbery, kidnapping and burglary and sentenced to prison. OJ Simpson was released in 2017. He also wrote the book “If I Did it”, which was interpreted by some as a hypothetical confession of the murders.
He was 76 years old.
