The rescue service urges everyone to avoid swimming and contact with the water in the coastal area that stretches between Helsingborg and Höganäs. In particular, the advice applies to the towns of Hyttarp, Domsten, Viken, Lerberget and Höganäs.
— We have located a small amount of oil that reached the beaches north of Helsingborg. We have a concern that more oil may be found further out in the open water. Among other things, bathers have told us about it, says Jonas Hemert, internal commander at the rescue service.
According to the rescue service, the Coast Guard will move an oil cleanup vessel to the area during the night to check the extent of the spill.
The rescue service’s advice against contact with the water will remain until Sunday morning at the earliest.
