Official source: Lebanon submits response to US truce proposal | News in brief

According to Lebanese media, Hezbollah has responded “positively” to the proposal. Achieving a ceasefire is still uncertain.

On Monday, Lebanon has delivered Hezbollah’s written response to the cease-fire proposal with Israel presented by the United States.

This is reported by a Lebanese official source and the Lebanese television channel Al-Jadeed, as well as the US CNN.

According to the sources, Hezbollah has reviewed the proposal presented by the United States last week, and submitted a response to the Lebanese authorities on Sunday evening. According to the Lebanese media, the American proposal has been received “positively”. However, the content of the answer will not be specified for the time being.

Achieving a truce between Israel and Hezbollah is still uncertain, according to an Israeli source familiar with the matter, according to CNN.

The source points out that although progress has been made, the process may slow down again if Hezbollah refuses to accept Israel’s demand for the right to strike Hezbollah targets in the event of a ceasefire violation.

Also the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the issue on Monday when speaking to Parliament. He stated that Israel will in any case continue its military activities against the Iranian-backed Hezbollah, even if a ceasefire is reached in Lebanon, in order to prevent the organization from rearming.

– We are forced to ensure our security in the north and systematically carry out operations against Hezbollah’s attacks, even after the ceasefire, Netanyahu commented.

On Monday, Israel’s prime minister also said that Israel had managed to slightly damage Iran’s nuclear program by carrying out precision strikes on the country’s military targets in October.
