From December 1, they must be turned off between 11:45 p.m. and 6 a.m. These measures are part of the energy sobriety plan initiated in October by the government to deal with the possible shortage of gas or electricity this winter. Public lighting cut at midnight
Other cities such as Lyon, Toulouse or Clermont-Ferrand and Strasbourg have already started to turn off street lights several hours at night.

Ademe recommends rather to modernize the current system, very energy-consuming, in particular by using LED bulbs. An investment that would reduce the budget allocated to public lighting by 50% to 80%.
