An officer at F16 in Uppsala hit a conscript in the head. Now the Swedish Armed Forces’ personnel responsibility committee has decided to fire him, reports SVT Nyheter Uppsala.
It was at the beginning of the year that the officer allegedly hit a conscript in the back of the head with his open hand after he had fired at the wrong target during an exercise. However, the officer denies that it was a punishment and claims that it was just a pat on the helmet to calm the conscript.
The Personnel Responsibility Board says, however, that what happened goes against the Armed Forces’ core values, and that the officer’s actions are taken very seriously.
