Stina Nilsson has once again been poked from the Biathlon World Cup.
Now the Swede regrets her decisive decision when she switched sports.
– I skipped it in my career, says Stina to SVT.
After a very weak start to the World Cup was Stina Nilsson again relegated to the IBU Cup and has competed there ever since. But after the dismal start, she has found her confidence back with three podium places in the level during the World Cup.
Criticism of Stina
The fourth season as a biathlete must have been difficult and the Swede has had to endure harsh criticism. But right now Stina sees her future brightly.
– Right now I think it’s so damn fun to be away and to compete at the IBU Cup, because I think biathlon is fun and to be able to do it with the feeling I have in my body now versus the one I had in the beginning (of the season) is so much more fun, she says in an interview with SVT Sport.

It has almost been four years since Nilsson made the high-profile switch from cross-country skiing, where she was one of the world’s best sprinters. To start all over in the – for her – new sport of biathlon.
Nilsson regrets
Already during her debut season, she had to make her debut at the World Cup. But now she regrets her decisive decision with the biathlon in her first words after being poked again from the Biathlon World Cup.
– Maybe it feels like when I started biathlon I skipped an important step in my career. I rode a bit in the IBU Cup but was nowhere near the podium, but I rode the World Cup quite early, Stina admits to the TV channel.
– I think that for me it is extremely valuable to take this step, to get the chance to compete and the chance to take podium places. It’s a phase that’s a lot of fun too. But it is clear that I want to go forward and go to the World Cup, but they are doing so well there that it is difficult to settle in. I can only influence my own situation and my own riding and shooting. Just do the work required there and hopefully get the chance further down the line when the time is right.

Stina Nilsson will now fight to return to the World Cup and then to stay. Because she does not see the end of her biathlon venture, despite the tough setbacks
– No I do not think so. I think I think it’s so much fun and that I think I’m still developing in a way that makes me think it’s a lot of fun to continue, she says in the interview.

Instead of the Biathlon World Cup, the 30-year-old has to prepare for the Biathlon European Championship in the future, where she also competed last year and won a medal.
