Oppenheimer is a front-runner for 13 Oscar nominations this year, and director Christopher Nolan may have produced the Dark Knight trilogy, but is otherwise known for preferring original material like Inception and Interstellar as a filmmaker. It is all the more astonishing that the master director is now positive words for the MCU’s blockbuster competition found.

In an interview with The New York Times, Christopher Nolan and his Best Supporting Actor Oscar-nominated star Robert Downey Jr. discussed their collaboration on Oppenheimer. It also covered other topics, such as the Marvel success story in the cinema:

Christopher Nolan’s Marvel praise refers, on the one hand, to the influence his Oppenheimer star has, despite these adversities, 15 years later. On the other hand, he also recognizes that the big ones Marvel blockbusters helped cinemas through the Corona crisis. Their broad appeal to a large audience ensured that they lured people back to the screens.

Christopher Nolan recently revealed his weakness for a Fast & Furious film. Apparently the director can’t just surprise us with his films.
