Odermatt won 32 hundredths ahead of Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen and 70 ahead of Frenchman Alexis Pinturault. Mattias Rönngren, the only Swede on the Slovenian piste, finished in 20th place and was defeated by almost four and a half seconds.
In the overall World Cup, 25-year-old Odermatt leads by far. With his 1,826 points, to be compared to the Norwegian runner-up Aleksander Aamodt Kilde on 1,240, he has already secured the victory.
Now there is a chance that Marco Odermatt can become the second skater ever to reach 2,000 points, 23 years after Austrian Hermann Maier managed the feat.
Next week, the World Cup final will be decided in Soldeu in Andorra.
