Obi-Wan maker clears up the series’ biggest Star Wars logic hole

Obi Wan maker clears up the series biggest Star Wars logic

Attention, follow spoiler!

Since the launch of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars fans have debated how the events of the series unfolded affect the official canon. Last but not least, alongside the broken Jedi (Ewan McGregor) and Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen), young Princess Leia (Vivien Lyra Blair) also plays a crucial role in the story.

the biggest disagreement after the first three episodes, however, goes back to a different character, namely the Grand Inquisitor (Rupert Friend). All posters and images previewed the sinister villain, not to mention his prominent appearances in various trailers and TV spots.

Star Wars Confusion: Did the Grand Inquisitor Die in Obi-Wan Kenobi or Not?

It should have been all the more surprising for many viewers when Reva (Moses Ingram) apparently displayed her lightsaber rammed through the body of her superior. But wait a minute, isn’t the Grand Inquisitor still alive in Star Wars Rebels? Did the Obi-Wan series just boastfully rewrite the canon?

Rupert Friend as the Grand Inquisitor in Obi-Wan Kenobi

Since then, many Star Wars fans have speculated whether the animated series, which is set after Obi-Wan Kenobi, deleted from the canon or is rewritten. In an interview with Vanity Fair, screenwriter Joby Harold gives the all-clear.

As you know, we never break the canon. That’s all I can say about it. [Lacht] The canon is above everything.

Harold doesn’t go into the fate of the Grand Inquisitor too specifically. Confirming that Obi-Wan Kenobi does not break with Star Wars canon gives us the assurance that the events in Rebels are still current. With the Ahsoka series, an indirect Rebels sequel is also announced on Disney+.

The big question now is: will we see the Grand Inquisitor again in any of the remaining Obi-Wan episodes, or will his survival be determined at a later date? Especially with regard to Reva’s development it would be quite exciting when she finds out that the head of the inquisition is still alive.

How did he survive? That’s a good question too, after all it’s boring Reva’s blade right through his stomach. At the same time, however, we are talking about the universe that brought Palpatine back from the afterlife and uses every conceivable opportunity to let Darth Maul walk among the living again despite the dichotomy.
