Obi Wan Kenobi: the series changes date on Disney +, when will we see it?

Obi Wan Kenobi the series changes date on Disney

OBI WAN KENOBI SERIES. Ewan McGregor himself announced the date change of the Obi Wan Kenobi series on Disney+. Here is his new date.

[Mis à jour le 31 mars 2022 à 17h15] After announcing a first broadcast date on May 25, 2022 on Disney++, Lucasfilm and Disney decided to change tack and launch the Disney+ series two days later. Obi Wan Kenobi will make his big comeback on May 27, 2022 on Disney+ worldwide. It is in any case Ewan McGregor himself who took charge of the announcement, published on social networks for a short video. After choosing Wednesday as the broadcast day for its exclusive series, this could mark a return to the Friday box for the next Disney+ productions. Fans will have to wait two more days to see McGregor again as the saga’s Jedi master Star Wars. Note, however, that Disney + will broadcast two episodes of the series from launch day.

The event mini-series takes place ten years after Revenge of the Sith. We will find the Jedi camped by Ewan McGregor on the planet Tatooine where he hopes to hide while the Empire is looking for the last Jedi to eradicate them from the galaxy. Darth Vader, who will return here with Hayden Christensen, intends to find his former master and, if possible, put him out of harm’s way. In the trailer, which we invite you to discover below, we can see Obi-Wan watching the young Luke Skywalker whom he entrusted to the custody of Owen (Joel Edgerton) on Tatooine. Several other Empire characters can also be seen organizing the hunt for the Jedi. Dressed in black, these characters are none other than inquisitors that fans of the Star Wars Rebels series (or the Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order video game) will have already seen at work. Armed with red, Force-sensitive lightsabers, these Inquisitors are formidable foes that Vader uses for missions against the Jedi who survived Order 66.

While Lucasfilm is taking the time to prepare for the return of Star Wars to the cinema, it has been on the small screen that the saga has been developing in recent years. On Disney+, the success of The Mandalorian gave ideas to the studio which announced a slew of spin-offs and other projects in the galaxy far, far away. Among the most anticipated projects, an Obi-Wan Kenobi series promises the return of Ewan McGregor as the Jedi Master as well as Hayden Christensen as his fallen apprentice, Anakin Skywalker. The series is set to take place ten years after Revenge of the Sith and will be directed by Deborah Chow, who previously directed two episodes of Season 1 of The Mandalorian.

Long rumored, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series was made official on August 24, 2019 during the D23 Expo with the announcement of the return of Ewan McGregor in the title role. In December 2020, Lucasfilm confirmed that Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prelogy, would be in the series in the role of the Chosen of the Force become Darth Vader. At the end of March 2021, the production studio announced the start of filming for the series for the month of April as well as its casting. After the publication of some rumors about a broadcast in May 2022 on Disney+, Lucasfilm made the news official: it’s the May 27 that the Obi Wan Kenobi series will be broadcast on Disney+.
