South Korean ‘Squid Game’ actor O Yeong-Su is facing charges for a sexual assault that allegedly occurred in 2017.
[Mis à jour le 25 novembre 2022 à 12h24] O Yeong-Su is one of the star South Korean actors in Squid Game on Netflix. We learned today that the one who plays Oh Il-nam in the hit series has been the subject of prosecution since Thursday, November 24, 2022. Aged 78, he is accused of having “touched the body of a wife inappropriately” in 2017. However, he remains at large. According to the Suwon district prosecutor’s office, which spoke to AFP, the information relayed by the local media “is not factually incorrect”. Few details have yet been given on this affair, but the South Korean Ministry of Culture has decided to no longer broadcast an advertising campaign featuring him.
O Yeong-Su would have denied these accusations to the South Korean media JTBC: “I simply held her hand to guide her around a lake, he would have declared in remarks relayed by the media Soompi, specialized in South Korean pop culture news. I apologized because the person said they didn’t want to make a fuss about it, but that doesn’t mean I acknowledge the accusations against me.”
O Yeong-Su has been an active South Korean actor since the 1980s. However, it is thanks to the Squid Game series that he has gained international notoriety. He plays Oh Il-nam, a seemingly vulnerable old man who participates in the deadly game against the hero. The comedian won the Golden Globes for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2022, becoming the first South Korean to win the award.
